Four children of the faithful prepared for their first sacrament of Holy Confession by a year of study under the direction of Mrs. Mary Ann Sklaryk. The children, Maxim Bobola, Elena Dobronos, Diana Shakura, and Jacob Widmor attended Vespers on Saturday June 18. Fr. John Nakonachny spoke to the children and then administered the Sacrament of Holy Confession for each child.
Pentecost Sunday is the celebration of the establishment of the Holy Orthodox Church by the Holy Spirit descending upon the Apostle. “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts 2:4. On Pentecost Sunday, the children accepted the Sacrament of Holy Communion with pure hearts and minds.
It is a tradition at St. Vladimir Cathedral for children to have their first Holy Confession Sacrament to occur on Pentecost.
